Over the last twenty years, imported pests have damaged SNP-gypsy moth, wooly adelgid, with more possibly on the way. In recent years, imported plants have become a threat to the park. Unlike gypsy moth and adelgids, which targeted only one species of tree, invasive plants can crowd out everything.

Over the years, the trail tools I normally use have changed. Although things on trails can be lost or suffer fates unaffected by their quality, I have decided that I cannot afford to use inefficient tools. Several years ago, then Blue-Blazed trails District Manager Lois Mansfield introduced me to some better tools than what I had been using.

Overseer reports for all shelters and huts have been going to Henry Horn. Henry had the responsibility to appoint and remove overseers as well as repair and build shelters and huts. The Executive Committee discussed this. All agreed this is a huge responsibility and it would be better to have shelter or hut overseers report to the trails district manager.
