The A.T. is managed cooperatively by the National Park Service, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC), volunteers from 30 local A.T. Clubs, the USDA Forest Service, and other public land-managing agencies.
Shenandoah National Park was formally established in 1935, but had been planned since 1927. Early PATC members played key roles in the promotion of the Park. Visit the Web site for this most-visited Park in the National Parks System.
