Mark Gatewood
2013 Honorary Life Member
Mark Gatewood, Co-District Manager, Flying McLeods organizer, and a leader of the Southern Shenandoah Valley Chapter, was honored at the 2012 PATC Annual Meeting on November 13, 2012 with the award of Honorary Life Membership.
Mark has been active—very, very active—with the chapter and our district for more than ten years. Three years ago, he formed the Flying McLeods volunteer trail crew and has led them on A.T. and blue-blazed side trail projects ever since.
Mark works with his wife, Betty, to make the ATC program, Trail to Every Classroom, active and viable in our district. In 2011 and 2012, he led students from Riverheads High School to build significant portions of the A.T. relocation on Little Calf Mountain.
Mark is a leader, a trainer, a great friend. It is a pleasure to work with him and an honor to know him.
