Beverley Carver
2014 Hawksbill Award Recipient
We are honored to recognize Beverley Carver as recipient of the 2014 PATC Hawksbill Award for outstanding commitment and performance supporting maintenance of the Appalachian Trail in the South District of Shenandoah National Park.
Beverley Carver began her service as an Appalachian Trail overseer on January 7, 1994. For 10 continuous years, she has maintained the A.T. in the South District of Shenandoah National Park from the Loft Mountain Camp Store Trail to the Frazier Discovery Trail on the summit of Loft Mountain.
In 2014, Beverley not only maintained her section completely. She also organized friends and colleagues to help her neighboring overseer, whose mobility was unexpectedly restricted by injury.
Beverley is an outstanding organizer and leader. She recruited and led 30 individuals who, including herself, contributed 198.5 hours maintaining the A.T. on her section and that between the Ivy Creek Maintenance Hut Trail and the Frazier Discovery Trail.
It is our honor to recognize Beverley Carver for her work and commitment.
