Heather Warren
2012 Hawksbill Award Recipient
We are honored to recognize the Reverend Heather A. Warren, Ph.D., who received the Hawksbill Award at the PATC Annual Meeting in November, 2012 for outstanding commitment and performance supporting maintenance of the Appalachian Trail and her fellow PATC trail overseers in the South District of Shenandoah National Park.
Heather maintained the Appalachian Trail between Swift Run Gap and the High Top Parking Area from at least January, 2001 through July, 2012. In July, she moved to maintain the A.T. around the Loft Mountain Campground, between the intersections with the Loft Mountain Camp Store and Loft Mountain Amphitheater trails. Heather also maintains the blue-blazed side trail leading from Eaton Hollow Overlook to the J. Frank Schairer Trail Center on the PATC-owned Firestone Tract above Beldor Hollow.
Heather maintains the tools at the PATC cache at the Simmons Gap Ranger Station in the South District. She keeps the Stihl brushcutters and supplies in top shape. In 2012, Heather undertook the tasks needed to clean out the former Fire Team shed, move the PATC power tools, paint, and supplies into the shed, and organize all materials for the easy use of our overseers.
It is indeed our honor to recognize Heather Warren as our Hawksbill Award recipient!
