Kate Hoffmeyer

2018 Hawksbill Award

We am are proud to recognize Kate Hoffmeyer as recipient of the 2018 PATC Hawksbill Award for outstanding commitment and stewardship supporting the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in the South District of Shenandoah National Park.

Kate joined the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club in 2015 and immediately volunteered to maintain the Appalachian National Scenic Trail between the Frazier Discovery Trail atop Loft Mountain and the Ivy Creek Maintenance Hut trail, a particularly rough section.

Kate devoted over 98 hours of her time in 2018 maintaining her assigned section of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in the South District of Shenandoah National Park. Additionally, she works with Ms. Beverly Carver, overseer for the A.T. section immediately south of Kate’s section (Frazier Discovery Trail—Loft Mountain Camp Store Trail) and is an active member of the Southern Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the PATC.

Kate is an outstanding ambassador to hikers, backpackers, and casual Park visitors for both the PATC and Shenandoah National Park.

It is our honor to recognize Kate Hoffmeyer for her outstanding work and commitment.
