Harry Hicock
2016 Hawksbill Award Recipient
We are proud to recognize Harry Hicock as recipient of the 2016 PATC Hawksbill Award for outstanding commitment and performance supporting the Appalachian Trail in the South District of Shenandoah National Park.
Harry joined the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club in September, 2007. He volunteered to serve as a trail overseer of the A.T. in the South District of Shenandoah National Park between Swift Run Gap and Hightop Mountain Parking Area in 2012.
This year, Harry has devoted over 50 hours of his time maintaining his assigned trail section. His commitment does not end at his A.T. section. Harry volunteers to pick up tools and supplies from PATC Headquarters in Vienna and deliver them to the Simmons Gap tools cache whenever asked. He does not hesitate when asked to help with ad hoc trail crew projects or to assist another trail overseers. He is an outstanding ambassador for both the PATC and Shenandoah National Park to hikers, backpackers, and casual Park visitors.
It is our honor to recognize Harry Hicock for his outstanding work and commitment.
